KUALA LUMPUR, June 21 — American actor Chris Evans is advocating the adoption of adult and older dogs that tend to be forgotten.

The 41-year-old, who is the voice over for animation movie Lightyear, said adopting his boxer-mix Dodger in 2017 was the best decision of his life, Daily Mail reported quoting a video interview Evans had with BuzzFeed Celeb.

During the interview, in which Evans answered various questions while playing with a group of puppies, he reflected on how much joy adopting Dodger, estimated to be about one-year-old at the time of its adoption.

“I always thought when I adopted a dog, or rescued a dog, it would be a little puppy,” he reportedly said.

“Dodger was a full-grown dog. It wasn’t the story I had in my mind but it ended up being the best decision of my life. I just think a lot of adult dogs and older dogs get overlooked, and that’s a shame,” he added.

The Boston native is known to be a dog lover by regularly posting photos of him with Dodger.

Evans even tattooed Dodger’s name on his chest.

During the National Rescue Dog Day last year, Evans shared a clip of when he first adopted Dodger.

As he approached the fence separating him and Dodger, the dog started wagging its tail wildly before sniffing and licking the star’s hand.

“I had no intention of rescuing a dog that day, but the minute I saw him I knew he was coming home with me,’ Evans had captioned.

“There are so many loving animals at shelters who are in desperate need of a home. Visit a shelter and leave with a best friend,” he added.
